Basil (Bas) Kirby - President
Originally from the the thriving metropolis of Winnipeg, I arrived in Edmonton in 1992 and haven't looked back! I am proud of my service to the transportation / logistics industry serving in many capacities ranging from customs brokerage / international freight forwarding to LTL / FTL trucking. I have had been very fortunate to be employed by several fine companies such as Rainbow Transport (Manitoulin), FedEx Express and recently with Jones Transportation Inc. Having previously served on NATC Board of Directors as Past President, I am pleased and honored to be of service to the Club once again. My interests include playing golf (badly) and cheering on our local sports teams (How I miss Rush Lacrosse! Let me count the ways ...)

As Manager, Industry Development (Logistics) for Enterprise Edmonton, Brian’s specific focus is to:
Represent the Logistics Sector to both internal and external stakeholders, and
Identify issues that are barriers to growth and develop appropriate industry solutions and strategies
The overall scope of the position is to define the Edmonton Region as a critical Logistics Service Centre and Energy Super Hub with the help of a community of Logistics Service professionals that possess proven, unique and expanding skills. A major goal is to connect Canada’s North, Alberta’s vast resource potential, the innovators and the adopters to regional, national and international markets through the International Trade Program and Port Alberta.
Prior to joining Enterprise Edmonton, Brian spent over 30 years as a management consultant focused on supply chain and logistics management as well as helping businesses in a wide range of industries improve their operational efficiency and effectiveness. Along with a colleague, Brian developed and presented on behalf of Productivity Alberta, a three-day interactive workshop entitle “Supply Chain Collaboration – Turning Your Supply Chain into an Engine of Competitive Innovation”.
In addition, he has taught courses in the Applied Degree in International Business and Supply Chain Management program at MacEwan University as well as two courses for CITT. Over the past five years, Brian has instructed for the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA), Alberta Chapter. His current course load includes five of the eight required modules and two of the six interactive workshops that form part of the Supply Chain Management Professional designation program.

Dawn has had a long history in Transportation. Working now with the T&T Group of Companies for the past four years she has helped diversify their future by opening and establishing Ecco Transport Services Ltd. Recently moving the company into a 20K sqft warehouse, the growth has accelerated Ecco into one of Edmonton's largest Cartage companies.
Dawn has a great life with her 3 adopted daughters, and a grandchild on the way! She sings, plays darts and loves to hang out with her kids. With a lot of blood, sweat and beers.... Dawn put this website together in her "spare" time. She hopes it is enjoyed.

Rick Lee - Director

Rick was born in Churchill Manitoba when his father was stationed there during the US/Canada installation of the “DEW” line. (Defence Early Warning System) From there Rick grew up in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the Quebec City area and when his father retired from the Military, moved to Montreal where he finished school and started his business career.
Rick started his business life as a Draftsman in Montreal working in the Fire Protection construction industry. Rick was transferred to Edmonton in 1978 to design the fire protection system for the Dow Chemical plant in Ft. Saskatchewan. The next project was a 13 story high rise in Grande Prairie and finally the University of Alberta Health Sciences Center in Edmonton.
His wish to move into a sales career came with a position in transportation sales and he acquired experience in Pool Car, Full Load, Regional LTL and Courier sales while completing his CITT Distribution l and ll courses. It was in a position as District Sales Manager for Loomis Courier based out of Calgary when the opportunity to enroll in a Supply Chain Management program through Coopers Lybrant was made available. Rick completed his logistic courses while working for Rentway Edmonton (a division of Trimac Transportation) and acquired his P.Log. certification. From there Rick was hired as a Transportation Manager with Sobeys West. Rick moved up to the Director level with responsibilities which included the procurement management of all the Dairy, Frozen, Deli and Grocery commodities for the 3 Sobeys distribution centers in Western Canada and then as a Director of Logistics responsible for Inbound Transportation from suppliers to the same 3 distribution centers.
Rick now enjoys providing Tractor and Trailer equipment to the Distribution and Transport industries through Calmont Leasing Ltd. Rick is their Full Service Lease Account Manager.
Rick enjoys camping, golfing and classic cars as well as a spectator watching his wife Diana as a competitive curler, and of course The Oilers. Rick and Di have an 11 year old Sheppard Cross named Farley.
Pat Nugent Director

Patrick (Pat) Nugent was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Toronto is where Patrick attended Kindergarten through to high school and continued on to attend Humber Collage & York University. As the oldest son of an English/Irish Catholic family, Pat began his working career early starting at TNT Couriers in Toronto. As one of the largest transportation companies in the world. Pat rose rapidly within TNT executive staff to achieve the position Operation Manager in Southwestern Ontario, Alberta Sales and Operation Manager, and later as Western Canada Sales Manager at Gelco Courier. Years later when Gelco was sold to Air Canada, and as a result Pat formed a partnership with three others to start a local Cartage company called Transtech Cartage Ltd, (TCI).
During his tenure in Alberta, Pat continued his Dale Carnegie studies, volunteering his time as assistant instructor for several years afterwards. In addition to Dale Carnegie, Pat graduated with honors from Xerox studies of Professional Selling Skills, & Telemarking 1, 2 & 3. Pat joined Accord Transportation a family owned Truck Load Company and regrettably left Accord after many years as a result lengthy discussions with a Head Hunter.
Currently, Pat Loves his position as Sr. Dev. Manager for Jones Transportation.
When not working Pat strives to include 10 to 12 hours per week in the GYM consisting of Elliptical, Stationary Bike and free weights.
Volunteers his time to NATC and is a member in good standing at a local Golf CC, is an avid sport Fan, of, Ice Hockey, Golf, Tennis and Football. Pat also enjoys reading and listening to Blues music.

Alex Lowe is the Manager, Cargo Business Development for the Edmonton International Airport where he is responsible for developing and implementing Cargo growth strategies. Prior to joining the EIA, Alex spent the past 12 years in a regional management capacity with Cargojet. Alex has over 15 years of experience in the airline and aviation industry, the majority of which has been spent in the air cargo sector. Alex is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development Association.
Alex is married with two small children and is proud to have called the Edmonton region home for more than 30 years. In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey and golf and cheering on the Oilers and Eskimos.

I have been in the trucking industry all my life, Our family had a trucking business in Viking ,Alberta in the 70’sand then after high school I went to college and became a heavy duty mechanic. Then in 1997 I switched into sales and have been there ever since, selling heavy haul trailers, tank trailers and Class 8 trucks.
I have been happily married for 25 years and have two wonderful grandchildren that occupy most of my free time.
